POP GOES the CORK

If I gave you a bottle of red wine - you should uncork it.  I am not sure which batch it was but this morning I went downstairs and discovered that one bottle had popped its cork and had shot out half way across the room.  Dave will have to check that recipe before he makes it again!

a favor

Could any of you, who take the newspaper, save me today’s front page and sports section (unless you are saving it for yourself)? My friend Kitzi would like it since she is a Butler Grad and her students went on to NC. We are saving ours. of course!  Yesterday was so exciting! Sue, I couldn’t believe the Pacer game! Granger’s career 44 points and a win over the Jazz made it a nice evening! I’m on my way to Munster. Back Wednesday.

We Have a Date

We will be at my house on April 8th, Thursday.  Kate said she that she already had plans for the 15th.  She didn’t say what they were so we can use our imagination since it it the 15th and tax deadline ... could be anything to last minute taxes, a spa treatment, sleeping, or partying!

Enjoy the sun on Saturday.  “We” are washing our gazebo since the forecast for next week sounds gorgeous.  Maybe we will eat Easter brunch in the gazebo!

Patrick Trainor

Sue, Maureen and Carol, Can you believe the news about Patrick Trainor? I feel so bad for the whole family and I feel bad we really don’t have any contact with them anymore, really since they moved to Carmel and all the boys went to Cathedral. Matt sent me articles and there is a FB website.

How was last night? Where is next CC?

Today is my parent’s 60th anniversary. Nancy and I are treating them to two nights in Chicago this Summer. Nancy also decided we will treat Eddie and Elliott to something, in Chicago, also this summer, for both their 60th birthdays. Carol, are you adjusting to being back home? At least the weather is milder than when you left. Maureen, I hope the weather is ok for your trip to Ohio. I’m sorry I missed info about Kate and Carols trips ( even though you both post on the web)/

Scare

My sister called tonight ... the director of the assisted living place where my Dad is was driving home from work and saw my Dad in his wheelchair zooming along the sidewalk about 1 block or 2 from St. Edwards.  She called the staff who came and got him.  When asked where he was going, he replied - to get rims for my tires.  They wanted to take him to the hospital to test whether he had a stroke or not but my sister said no - what’s the point.  She and my brother did talk to my dad - he was aware enough to understand what they were saying about the possibility of testing and having to go to skilled nursing. Kitty told him St. Ed’s would be asking him questions tomorrow to assess his mental state.  Dad asked what kind of questions.  So Kit gave him a pre-test… he didn’t know the year, name of president and couldn’t name his children without receiving hints.

So ... we’ll see how alert he is tomorrow.  If he goes in for testing and needs to go to skilled care then it would hospice - and coming off his meds.  I imagine that coming off his meds - high blood pressure, blood thinner, etc - will shorten a hospice stay.

So ... we wait.

Escape Workshop

Remind me to do a show and tell, next CC, from my defense workshop. The instructor added humor and showed us defense techniques that we all enjoyed.I get 2 or 3 LEUs . We need a total of 50, in 5 years to be a certified Librarian. I’m going to Kit and Kaboodle, in Carmel, to get some more puppets for my story times. My friend Rhonda, checked it out, for me, and said there were lots of puppet $10 or less. This I have to see! I can’t wait for the weekend. I’m hoping to see Alice in Wonderland and going to two Horizon League basketball games with Elliott ( one is Butler).I can’t believe I’m actually going to a basketball game where Elliott will be sitting next to me!

UPdate

Immobilizer is off - if anyone else wants to use it let me know!  Halloween costume?  I am not to use my arm at all for the next month.  He gave me 3 stretching exercises to do every hour for 15 seconds.  I am allowed to stroll but no other true exercise (one handed weights, sit ups etc).  I have a prescription for PT and was able to get this afternoon - will need to go everyday to start with.

Hope everyone enjoys the preview to spring that that weatherman is promising us!
