I am blown away!! You won’t believe this!

The hospice Dr. says Al is improving and might need to leave Hospice. The Dr. is evaluating him today. The nurses say he is getting weaker and more congested. Then the Dr. says he is better. Surprisingly Al had the best day, yesterday, and seemed more aware and determined to get out of hospice.. It’s great but I don’t understand why the Dr. was so sure he wouldn’t last off the respirator and said he would need a perminite trach and dialysis. Now we don’t know, until the hospice Dr. evaluates him what he will recommend. Elliott said maybe a nursing home, which they don’t want (Medicare doesn’t cover, only Hospice and home care).. I will keep you posted.

Hospice updates

First, it definitely is good and bad to be able to say goodbye and plan. Matt is working on Papa Al’s Obituary and we are mulling around people to carry the casket (PB). That is good. The tough part is Al is so aware yet confused that it’s tearing us up and causing lots of tears. Elsie wishes he would die in his sleep or of a heat attack. He has said he knows this is the end and expresses his love to all of us. Then the next thing he says is he is in the army or working at the style store. The Hospice Dr. Gave false hope, saying he is better, and should start therapy. It confused Elsie and Al. Al was trying to get out of the bed, yesterday, saying “I want to go home!” The nurses told him he is too weak. I came to work, today, to relax from three days at Hospice and with Family! I might stop in, after Zumba, tonight, or just get an update from Elliott.Bobby, especially, has been very devoted. He is starting his job, in Terre Haute but has come back, the last two nights, to sleep in the room with his grandpa. More update later.

Al update

I’m sorry I didn’t make it last night.Sorry I missed your conversations and deserts. Matt came home and the family spent the evening in the hospital. Today Al Was moved to St. Vincent Hospice, off of Payne Road. What is really tough is Al still is somewhat aware and when he was being wheeled to the ambulance he told Elsie, “this is the end! Elsie said she wished he would have died in his sleep or died of a heart attack like her parents, But really, his is becoming confused and just seems peaceful at Hospice. They are letting him have what he wants ( he wants Orange Juice and Ice Cream) and it is so much calmer than ICU was. I’m trying to work a few hours so I’ll update this weekend.

Father-in-law update.

Monday the hospital called and said Al was back on the respirator. Then the Dr.s told Elsie that Al would need to be on dialysis three times a week and they would need to do a trach to help him breathe. I will try to get to Maureen’s to tell you what the outcome is. I am going to the hospital, today, after work. it’s not good.

Does someone esle want to take my CC turn?

I’m sorry to keep changing the week but this week, between Pacer Thursday Playoff game and my father-in-law being on a respirator, in the ICU, at St. Vincents, I just can’t have CC, I’m really sorry my life is so busy and complicated right now. On top of that we are geering up for SRP and the other Children’s librarian ( the part time girl who helps with story times, programs, etc) is still on Leave. I am covering my storytimes and hers. Now I am delivering SRP flyers and maybe doing a SRP program with the manager’‘s help when she can. I did enjoy Rachel’s Dental school graduation, Dental school Reception and tour, and the dinner Rachel’s parents hosted. My sister and her Hubby also came. It was a happy-sad weekend. Besides the graduation festivities we spent a lot of time in the hospital with my in-laws. It was nice to Have Bobby and Matt here for the weekend.

Busy Times

At this rate the summer will be over way to soon!  I have signed up for a training program to get ready to do the triathlon in August. They concentrate on improving your technique which in turn will improve your time and endurance… I hope. So in addition to going to the technique classes, I will still have to practice laps and do runs/walk on my own.  I haven’t decided whether to do the sprint (swim 500 yards, bike 12 miles, run 3) or the Olympic (swim 1500 yards, bike 24, run 6).  I could think of worse ways to spend my time!

Leaving tomorrow

Steve and I fly up to Minnesota tomorrow, and will return on the 17th.  Last Friday he met Steve Worth over at our new church and took a tour of the whole place.  Moving date is June 11, but it’s hard to imagine the place will be ready!  For anyone interested, here is a link to the photo album:  https://picasaweb.google.com/116007256065134607592/NewPilgrimChurchMay42012#
