thanks Carol for the yummy cake and the lovely chatter. It was good to escape from the sick house. This one will show the house Kara and Al are buying ( assuming that the inspection and appraisal go well).

How Was Thanksgiving?

Elliott and I had a low key Thanksgiving. It was just the two of us. We went to Max and Ermas in Carmel. Tomorrow we are celebrating, with Elliott’s family, at Morningside. It is Elsie’s birthday so Morningside is making her a cake. Bobby and Rachel will be here. Matt is in Atlanta with Jen’s family. Did any of you see Matt’s name in the Star? I don’t remeber the section but it wa the article about the Morehead basketball coach shoving his player and Matt being the Media person helping to deal with the problem and what dicipline there should be concerning the coach.

Nice trip

We enjoyed our trip to Baltimore - it was fun to see the guys and their new digs!  I think they will like it there.  We mostly hung around their area (White Marsh) but we did have a lovely Friday night dinner at the Capital Grille, Inner Harbor area of downtown Baltimore (right by the water taxis Kate!) and then on Monday we went to Annapolis to eat seafood and take a short stroll on the lovely grounds of the Naval Academy.  The trees still have colored leaves there (and even more so when our flights connected through Atlanta) and it is a very wooded and pretty area where they live.  We got in last night around 7.  Tomorrow morning Steve is having hernia repair surgery (both sides) at the Naab Road Surgery Center.  Delaney went back to school yesterday after being sick for over a week - strep and flu.

I will check into who is next up fro CC.  Probably me!

Recipes for Thanksgiving

Susan and I sampled some new Thanksgiving recipes at the nutrition class at IU North.  If anyone is interested on a healthier - and just as good - version of the green bean casserole that is made with cream of mushroom soup, let me know and I’ll send it to you.  Also she suggested putting meringue instead of marshmallows on the sweet potatoes.

Bill

Bill was started on IV antibiotics today for a strep infection that has not gotten much better after a week of oral meds. He will go daily for infusions after he gets a pic line inserted tomorrow. The prognosis is poor. He is unlikely to regain sight in his eye and the concern appears to be limiting the spread of the infection and the possibility of losing the eye. He is mostly sleeping and has some pain and no appetite. ( I stopped at McDonald’s to indulge and Bill did not even eat a single fry!) He has lost weight.

long day

Bill woke on Sunday with an eye infection. The doctor prescribed eye drops but they were ineffective. We started Monday at the opthamologist at 9:30 and then were kicked up to the surgeon at Mlidwest eye immediately. We spent the day in waiting rooms and then Bill had emergency eye surgery at 5:00 today and is too miserable.. He should be feeling better in a few days but won’t know if his vision (right eye) will return for possibly months. Fortunately I had grabbed a good book to bring with me.
