Happy New Year

Where did 2012 go? We certainly will be starting 2013 off on the right foot!  I am afraid that 2013 will go by faster than 2012… wedding, trip to AZ, summer, another wedding, Alaska and then into fall.  We will be leaving early Monday in an attempt to stay ahead of the snow as we drive.  Sounds as if we will have warmer temps in Smithfield. I’ll give a report at Susan’s on Thursday.

May the new year bring many blessings to you!

Next meeting at my house

What is our consensus date? I would like to wait until the 3rd of January.  Do you want to try something different…like play dominoes? It is an easy game to learn and we can still chat..
My kitchen is a disaster. No drawers and no doors on the cabinets. The dining room table is overflowing with the contents of the drawers. The kids are planning on putting it together Sunday afternoon and I need to be out of the house. I guess I will go to the JCC for awhile and maybe shopping. They want to do a reveal like the do on TV. I washed out the contents of the apron drawer…15 aprons and I rarely wear one. Some of them date back to when I did daycare and we would do messy projects. Yes I culled (tossed; donated and garage sale pile) so now have 8.
Winter was inevitable but I still have difficulty accepting the cold and windy weather. Shana’s flight was cancelled after she got to the airport last night but she managed to get a flight to Houston this afternoon and then will stay overnight to get on a flight to Indy in the morning.  Complicated but at least she will be able to get here.

Can Anyone still go to IMA tonight?

I was going to call or email Barb after my storytime but I want to ask all of you first if you can still go to the open house tonight. I know it will depend on the weather. Let me know.

Our Christmas Weekend

Zach and Rachel arrived Friday evening and finished decorating the tree.  A game of scrabble and another word game completed the evening. Christmas Eve (Saturday) we went to pick up Zach’s gift - 2 bonsai trees. After lunch we went to the Yuletide Concert, Eagles Nest for dinner, parked in front of 2 houses that were decorated and synchronized to music, home to teach Zach how to play Euchre, watched The Grinch, and Dave read The Night Before Christmas.  Christmas morning we went to church… couldn’t figure out why the church was still in Advent though.  When we got home we opened stockings, ate brunch and then went to the Y for zumba.

Rachel and Zach’s departure for home was delayed… waiting for AAA to come to unlock the car so they could get the keys out of the trunk… We used the time to practice Euchre.

Of course CC came up in the conversation over the weekend.  Zach was very interested - even looked up the site so I wouldn’t be surprised if he checked in now and then!  I’ll have to be vigilant in monitoring what I post!

I could get used to celebrating Christmas early… by the end of the weekend I think I really believed it was Christmas!  There were so many more activities available this past weekend than if they had come for the actual Christmas.

Are we still thinking about the Art Museum for this Thursday?

There are no words, no words, not any…

Light a candle for these little lambs, and for all the victims of senseless and horrific violence.  May God welcome them all into his loving arms and hold close all those left behind to grieve their passing.

Quiet here!

Susan, how is Bill?

Maureen, how go the Rehearsal Dinner plans?

CarolFay, I know how you are doing because be are FB friends!  I love the different Menorah pictures!

Kate, what are you giving the little grandchildren for Christmas?

Steve made it out of Minnesota on Sunday morning before the full blown blizzard hit - 16 inches.

That is the title of tonight’s Poetry Plus program - we have a guest presenter who will enthrall us with her tales of the wiggly stuff (I guess!).  Last December she did a program on Christmas pins which was really fun and interesting - she brought hundreds of them along for us to see.  Anyway, not sure what form this program will take, but you all are welcome to attend!  We will have refreshments after the 7:30 pm program in the library at Pilgrim Lutheran Church (3650 West 106th).

How is Thursday, Dec.20th?

Carol and I talked . She said, Thursday, Dec. 20th is IMA Lilly open House. We are interested in going. Are any of you? I will talk to Barb. She was interested in this Thursday but Carol checked the date and it’s nothing special this Thursday. I finally got a date on the Bridal Lunch and Wedding, this weekend. Now I can do some planning and tell my Manager what dates I want off. I think I will try to go to Seatle three or four days before the wedding, depending on flight and hotel prices. Two days after the wedding is Rosh Hashanah.

And another link

You may need to cut and paste.  This is the link to the Ironman pictures in Cozumel.  While they were in the staging area they were able to watch the dolphins in their holding pens which was a nice diversion.  Rachel was very pale when she got out of her swim… it was brutal.  She said she will never do another ironman in the ocean… I was hoping to hear that she just will never do another…
