One Handed

I was too busy with family activities this weekend to go to the ER…not all broken bones are painful I learned…fell on the ice in the driveway Friday night.  Saturday we opened Christmas gifts, went to the Yuletide, race packet pickup, church, out to dinner.  Sunday we went downtown in the bitter cold ...the wind was brutal…all of us would have been willing to skip the race except Zach so we all went.  Kevin came in 4th out of 1600 people.  My brother John who hasn’t run in several years went ahead and did the 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 25 minutes.  After the race we went to Hoaglins go go on Mass Ave for brunch…Kitty, Xavier, and Marie drove down fro S.Bend..Xavier’s first road trip.  My nephew and his girlfriend also met us there.  Then back to our house…quite the gathering…haven’t had so many people at the house for a long time.

So Monday after Yoga (which is hard to do one handed - impossible in fact)...Dave took me to the hand center.  John took Kevin and Jen to the airport.  I have a broken radius (the bone on the thumb side of the arm) that will require surgery to repair…next Monday.  In the meantime they put me in a splint.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend!

Red Velvet Cake

We will have to be sure to reserve the date for the 2014 holiday dinner that is sponsored by the Reuben Center!  The food was delicious…catered by MBP Catering. The auction had many interesting items and when the bidding got down to the last 5 minutes the woman in charge reminded us be nice to each other!...surely she wasn’t talking to me?
So…I was the high bidder on a red velvet cake made by MBP catering.  You will need to eat your share…I believe this will be the first time I have served a “store bought” dessert!  A first time for everything!
Hope to see you all on Thursday!

Eye operation

Bill will have his eye removed tomorrow. He went in for a routine check yesterday and the doctor said it is vulnerable for an infection so it has to go. It is an outpatient surgery so we hope that all goes smoothly. in six weeks he will get an artificial eye put in. Prayers appreciated. thanks
