Our Easter Sunday:

Steve is in Albuquerque for Aunt Patty’s memorial service which was yesterday - he arranged for a Lutheran pastor to officiate and they met for coffee beforehand to plan the service.  Steve also gave a eulogy.  He and Aunt Margo and her stepson and his wife were the only relatives there, the others were the care center people where she lived the past 2 years.

Here are the pics that were on the funeral home website:

Hot Hot Hot

Happy Easter to those who celebrate. We had Al and Al for brunch. Kara is out of town for the weekend with the speech tournament. After the Als left I took the dogs for their morning walk. The dogs were hanging their tongues out from the heat and my body has some adjusting to do too. I guess it is stupid to complain that the weather is too hot.

You must watch this!

I might turn Catholic after hearing this priest sing at a wedding - maybe he is still available for Rachel and Sean - haha!

(you may need to cut and paste this - hope it works!)

Almost snow-free

Hello from my folks in New Ulm - can see bare ground most everywhere now except for the pile in my folk’s front yard.  By the time I leave on Monday it may be gone if the temps stay in the 50’s here.  Enjoying my stay a lot - saw my brother and his ladyfriend on Tuesday, my older sister Judi is coming over this afternoon and my younger sister Barbara arrives on Friday.  My dad is not getting around very well - his new knee is great, but his back and hips aren’t good.  Mother is much the same, doing pretty well.  But we are having a great time! I will drive back up to the cities on Monday to be with Steve and his dad - then we fly home on Tuesday.  Bet it is nice and green in Indianapolis!

Let’s Get the Party Started

What fun. The party was set up as lots of little buffets each with a theme. The DJ suggested starting with the desert table(like the Norwegians do) which had a selection of huge, tasty berries with chocolate cookies and fennel biscuits and a choice of creme fraiche or whipped cream. We went to the penthouse and checked out the classy dining area with a stunning view of downtown. Ivy Tech has dinner and lunches there which I plan to check out.

Practice Reception

Susan, Kate, Dave, and I had an enjoyable evening at the MBP Catering Open House at Ivy Tech - the old Stouffer’s Hotel.  The hors d oeuvres were delicious, the berries with whip cream was refreshing, the chocolate cookie with sea salt was sinful.  After the peach martini and a glass of wine I was almost ready to start dancing to the music.  The tablecloths were the same color we are going with for Rachel’s reception.  I felt like I was doing a practice! The only downside - we did not win any of the door prizes! Sorry the 2 Carols could not have joined us!

SoBro Cafe

My friend June is in town and spending the night. She took me out to dinner at the So Bro. I ordered the tempeh with peanut sauce but when the waitress brought my plate there was salmon(which I immediately noticed the difference). When I commented on this she apologized and a few minutes later brought what I had ordered. I noticed that she spoke to a woman at the next table who it turns out was eating MY MEAL instead of the salmon she ordered. The waitress later told us that she offered to bring her the salmon and the woman said No thanks, the tempeh was delicious and she would just finish that. Then the cook came over to our table and said he would have to just throw out the salmon but he would give it to us to take home for free. So tomorrow’s supper is all fixed. All is well.
