Back to the routine

With the memorial over ...back to my regular routine and to do list… still have the windows to wash.

On Sunday, the day after the service, I rode 47 miles… took a short cut the last “3 miles” which was really 5 miles.  Dave rode 49… he took the same short cut but at the 8 mile mark Rachel who was ahead of us on a nice long down hill just whizzed through the intersection along with half a dozen other bikers, not seeing the little pink turn arrow.  She stopped after a mile since she didn’t see us and waited… Dave caught up with her and they retraced their route… up hill.  She ended up riding 55 miles… she did not take the short cut.

The hills were horrendous!  But it accomplished what I wanted… totally exhausted me!

Just to give you an idea of the hills… my speedometer registered 34.7 miles per hour ... going down 2 of the hills.  Usually it was around 25.  I didn’t brake at all one one hill. Uphill… it went down to 2 mph on some hills and usually around 5 on others.

Are you sure you all didn’t have death wishes? First with the heat and then hurtling down hills. Although your father’s celebration sounded like an uplifting event we really aren’t ready to celebrate the rest of the family yet.

I hosted my book club last night and today am worn out.  I used the cucumber in a quinoa salad and it was quite tasty. We also had grilled chicken salad and for desert I borrowed Maureen’s Kahlua milkshake idea.Yummm

I have been grilling lots of veggies lately. The zucchini is wonderful grilled. Kara and I are going for massages this afternoon to celebrate her 30th.

Biking and massaging - wow you two!

We took the girls to the Mall of America today - spent over 4 hours there (including lunch at Rainforest Cafe) and that was only in one quarter of the mall, and two of the levels, just meandering around.

Your recipes sounded good Susan… nice and cool for this heat.

Carol… can’t say I have any desire to go to a mall that huge - maybe if I ever have granddaughters?

Good for you, Maureen.  Speaking of death wishes, we are having a mock audit today—and we are paying the guy to come and do it!

Maureen, What a trip back. It sounded like a successful memorial and family time. Sue and Carol, both of you are keeping busy and Kate good luck with the mock audit. Elliott and I had a nice day together. we went to Nora ffor lunch and to buy cards at the Halmark. Then we went to Morningside to spend time with Elliott’s parents on their anniversary. Matt met us there and the three of us went for dinner.
