Retirement Reception

Tomorrow afternoon Steve is being honored at a retirement reception down at Lilly - I am going, and so are Matthew, Davie, Taylor and Steve and Gloria Worth.  I guess there will be nibblings, visiting and a few formal remarks.  It is still so hard to believe that after moving to Indy 30 years ago, we no longer have a job-related reason to live here!

Next entry: Weekend and such

Previous entry: Waimea Bay

Was this an invitation?  Next time CC is at your house, we will have a toast to Steve.  It is strange to reflect that it is Steve’s retirement but that you were such a big support system - wonder if you will get an honorable mention?

I keep getting this vision of Carol dragging on Steve’s ankles and crying , “No don’t retire”. It is an adjustment to have both members of a marrige home together.
The Nuvo had an ad to get free passes to see the new Meryl Streep film, “It’s Complicated”. The website is nuvo.net/streetteam. It does look amusing in the previews.
For $5000 I can fix my eyesight with PRK and the problem corneas. supposedly insurance will pay only for the mechanical scraping part. Maybe I will go overseas.

No I guess it was just an announcement Maureen - but thanks for thinking of him.  The reception was nice - Steve was so amazed that almost 100 people showed up.  But then he has been there 30 years, and especially since being in IT he has come into contact with alot of people.  Two past bosses gave very moving speeches, detailing his career there, and noting most of his accomplishments.  I didn’t get any mention, but that’s ok, being a shy person I was content to stay on the sidelines.  Thanks for your acknowledgment of my part Maureen - what you said is really very true:)    And Susan, what you said has a grain (or two!!) of truth to it.  Sharing the house will be the biggest adjustment to me.  I wonder, did Bill feel like that with his being home alone in retirement first?

Wow- that’s a hefty price for your eyes Susan.  But then, to me, my eyes are one of my favorite things…  Would the fix you are talking about be a permanent fix?

Susan .. did you go to Dr. Price?  Your eyes have been bothering you for awhile - ask yourself - would you regret doing it?  Don’t think about the cost - will it make your life more enjoyable?

Carol - I’d go over Gosnell’s head and go see an orthopedic surgeon about your hips.  Who knows - with all the new advances there might be something and after an x-ray and MRI they might discover that it is something else.  Hip replacement changes a lot of what you can physically do.
