Summer arrived
Looks ... and feels as if summer has arrived! Dave and I drove (he) 5 hours to Akron on Sunday. It was nice to be there on Father’s Day- got there in time for dinner. It was just my sister, brother, Dave and me. My other brother and his daughter are on a week long bike/camping trip called GOBA - Great Ohio Biking Adventure - about 1,000 riders tour Ohio - 50 miles a day. I then spent Monday afternoon with my Dad while Dave was in a meeting. Actually - I worked the crossword while he took a nap for 2 hours - the other 2 hours I felt as if he was about to fall asleep. Then another 5 hour drive to Midland, MI - arriving at 9 pm. On Tuesday while Dave was in his meeting I took a 30 mile bike ride on a very nice old rail trail. The trail was wider than the Monon and in much better shape - although it was mostly in the sun. Then a 5 hour drive home on Tues. Marie is here - with the dog. The dog may be an every other week event. She is working 4 day work weeks so will only spend 3 nights with us which should work out fine. Now to catch up around here.

And then tonight Maureen and Marie delivered the rain barrel and set it up for me.
Black raspberries are ready to pick. Come on by and pick a bowl.
The dogs are a source of such amusement. Kate do you want to bring your mom by and have her meet the boys? Do you think she would be willing to take the quiet one for the 5th of July? Tonight in the backyard they were running free and Jack chased a cat. Jack thought it was great fun. The cat was pissed and hissed. I had to climb over the compost heap to get Jack because he wouldn’t come or leave the cat alone.
My big news is that it looks like I will be working until the beginning of November. The district says I am responsible for $1100 to pay for a stolen laptop. I said I would need to keep working to pay for it. They called my bluff but I am not backing down. Bill says now that I have a lawyer in the family we will sue if they try to take such an outrageous sum.

I also have Lawyers in my family that I could confer with if you need advice, Susan! I can’t believe they can get away with making you responsible unless you took the laptop!! I would love to meet your dogs

Do you have professional liability insurance on your HO policy Susan? If so, I would check and see if there is coverage for this deal.

Heading up to Minnesota this morning - I hope it cools down before I get there! Taylor and Melissa and girls are also driving up today, so are Davie and Matthew. Steve is flying up tomorrow. For the first time in 11 years the whole Cherrington family (27 of us now) will be together for the annual gathering. No small feat.

We will be having smaller gatherings this weekend—Titus is coming today and Parker is coming tomorrow! Unfortunately their visits won’t overlap, because it would be fun to see them together. They’re coming to see Auntie Amy who has been here for a week. Lots of fun. Susan, I’ll speak to my mom about it.

Marie came home from work Wednesday night to see me washing the floor. I told her that I didn’t want to create problems for her and Tom but - this was Lucky’s (the dog) last week here. I took pictures of the before - the area rugs in the kitchen and family room, the floor in the family room and back hall though she managed to also get it past the child gate and closed door to the front hall, and the kitchen floor—both ends. Lucky looked very contrite when I discovered her and Marie was very sorry—good thing she had already offered to fix dinner!

What a nice little travel weekend! Yes, summer sure has arrived! We leave Thursday for our family gathering in Minnesota and it’s hot there too right now.
The weekend mini trip to King’s Island with Ella was also hot, but alot of fun! We got to the hotel Saturday afternoon, swam, ate supper at a restaurant, shopped at Bigg’s, swam some more. Then on Sunday we met Matthew and Davie and went to KI from 11 am until 8 pm. I was dead, but Ella cried and wanted to stay longer. She and Uncle Matthew are thrill ride soul mates. Front seats on the coasters and the wilder the better.
