Things to Do

Just thought I would start a new post - then had to think of a headline for it that would cover the answer to Kate’s question and also leave open room to let people know of their up coming plans.  Oh, so much thought!
There is the Rock n Roll Museum in Cleveland that is highly rated and I know there is more but that is all I could think of off the top of my head.  By the time I would e-mail by brother and get a response you would be gone and back.
Rachel will be home this Saturday afternoon and Sunday - we are going to see the Fab Four(or is it 5?) - the Beatles at Conner Prairie. She also plans on administering a 3 hour sensory integration assessment test to 3 children for a class she is taking- the test is given individually.
I was wondering where you were CarolFay!  Yes, bring the wine bottles to the next CC.
I’ll put a plug in for Carol Hatfield - Poetry Plus is this Tuesday, our own Carol Hatfield will present the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson at 7:30.  Right Carol?
It is hard to believe that August is just a few days away!

Steve has been in Louisville this week, gets home today.  I am headed to pick up the girls in Fishers and tomorrow morning we have a 7 am flight up to Minnesota - we are taking them to visit Steve’s folks.  Back on Sunday.  I have been making use of being alone this week!  Yes, I am presenting RLStevenson next Tuesday the 4th at 7:30.  I am doing the bio and Sharon Harvey is reading the poetry(from Little Garden of Verse).  Spent alot of time going through books and info etc - I have always admired him as an author, adventurere, poet, activist etc.  Anyway, yes, all are welcome.

Sounds like Rachel rounded up 3 children then?

Cleveland?  I’ve got nothing!  We drove through there late one night on our way back from Niagara Falls - and that’s it!  Have fun with whatever you find to do Kate!

From Muskegon-Coast Guard Days.  Walked along the beach at sunset.  Now we’re also going to spend a night in Toledo!!  I did see online that Cleveland has an Art Museum, so I may check that out.

How lovely: the beach at sunset.
My patient is ok with the closing down of room service. He walks to the kitchen with a cane and doesn’t really need my help most times so…
surprise Kara and I went garage saling. I got a gazebo for the backyard. I was so worn out that I took a three hour nap in the afternoon. AAAH retirement is great.

I’ve mainly been to Cincy and Toledo but not Cleveland. I had avery busy week with it being the last week of Summer Reading. I now have Josh, since last night and through Monday morning. Bobby will take him back to Munster. Matt Elliott and I took Josh bowling and to lunch, today. Then Elliott and I ran some errands with Josh. I played games, ball and bat and watched a DVD with Josh. Tomorrow the two of us will see G Force. Then I hope Bobby will spend some time with Josh. He will be back home tomorrow, until Monday. Sue I’m happy Bill is doing better,

Pleasant weekend - just quick drizzles Saturday night at Conner Prairie concert - Beatles.  Sunday had a nice picnic at Alan and Kathy’s.  Rachel got 2 tests administered - she’ll find a third subject in Cincinnati.
Rode down to 54th and Illinois this morning and joined the Indianapolis hiking club on a 5 mile hike through woods, tow path, Monon etc.  It was a nice pace and different from just walking for exercise. You might enjoy it Susan.
I ended up inheriting the fake hummmel.  I didn’t want the Hummel with the pig and even though the other one didn’t quite look like a Hummel I knew I didn’t want the pig so ... I didn’t fully realize it wasn’t a Hummel til I looked more closely when I got home. It’ll make for a good story in years to come.

We had a nice weekend trip to Minnesota, the girls love to travel.  They enjoyed their time with their great-grandparents (Hatfield) and also a trip to downtown Saint Paul to the Science Museum of Minnesota.  We went mainly for the Titanic exhibition - very good, better than the permanent Titanic museum in Orlando.

The hiking club is right up your alley Maureen - sounds great.  I have the “pig Hummel” Maureen.  I think it’s called Home from Market.  It is one of the first ones I got (I think from Steve) probably around 1975.  I’ve always liked it because it was different!

The mold for that Hummel has been destroyed so I think it will end up as a true collectors item! I like ones that evoke a memory - trumpet boy, just resting, signs of spring.  Rachel inherited the large Stormy Weather from my Mom -it is amazing how much that is worth - depending on new or ebay!

Susan - I drove past your house intending to stop for a spot of tea but there was a 3rd car in your drive way.

Since Carol didn’t remind people - RLS tonight!

Maureen I am not exclusive with anyone so you can stop by even if there is a car in the driveway. If it was a blue wagon that was Kara. Or it could have been Bill’s PT. I did have book club last night and we ate dinner in my new Gazebo. We had a yummy orange curry couscous(lo fat vegan) and a salad bar that included salmon and blueberries.

How was poetry this evening? I was too tired to go. I went to visit another invalid in Zionsville today. My friend had a tonsillectomy and was in misery and horrid pain whenver she tried to swallow. She is allergic to most pain medication.
