too much drama
BIG day…major garage sale at chatham arch followed by an unscheduled trip to pick up Bill in cincinatti. he fell and broke an elbow. looks like my st. louis trip is off, details later. we just got home
Ok the short version: a single step went down Bill didn’t notice it and he went down face first. 6 hours at St. V’s/
Longer version: He came out of the parking garage and was looking around to see where was the building for St. Vincent DePaul regional meeting at the U of Cincinatti. There was a curb and he was not aware that he was moving but down he went. He called Kara because he had my cell phone. The EMT’s took his vitals and they were fine but his arm, knee and face were messed up. Bill then called our friend and she picked him up. He spent the day at her house and Kara and I and the three dogs came to get him and his car. Although he had banged his forehead he seemed ok but with coumidim one never knows about bleeds/ He was/is in considerable pain but we decided to come back to Indy to go to the emergency room for a six hour visit.. Multiple x-rays and CT scan revealed broken elbow but his knee hurts a lot. His arm is wrapped up. So tomorrow we have to make appointments for his knee and elbow. He can barely walk and is singing the blues. My trip is cancelled for now. I am playing nurse but can leave him while he sleeps.

I forgot Kara and I went to Grater’s and bought ice cream to reward ourselves.

Good thing he had your cell phone! Since you can leave him while he sleeps - could he sleep the whole time you are in St. Louis?
Carol - We have been thinking about going to Granite City - how was it?
Moving day went fine for Dave’s Dad. As Dave said - all this time we felt as if we were going uphill in terms of what needed to be done but now we are on the downhill side or the home stretch! We will need to check the odometer on his van so that we can tell if he goes anywhere. In his “other” life he only went to the grocery and church so he really has no need to go anywhere. It isn’t like he would go to a museum or library or anything.

this is totally off subject, but I had to enter these grandparent names before I forget them:
Memer and Peper
Granite City is OK, nothing to write home about. Steve had a burger and I had quesadillas - neither one was better than what can be had at Ruby Tuesday or Fridays for example. He had one of their brews and also didn’t think it was all that great. Pricewise it is a little higher than similar type restaurants. A little disappointing in light of the fact that it is home based in St. Cloud, Minnesota - known as the Granite City, hence the name.

Just to give you a hard time before Kate does ... so not all things from Minnesota are ranked high. Of course one could argue that since it has been relocated to Indiana ...

Too true Maureen!!! Seriously, some of the “high” rankings include taxes and cost of housing. When we moved down here we sold our Minneapolis house and bought the twice as big one on Delbrook for the same amount of money. Pretty much the same situation still holds true.

So the excitement continues with another visit from the fire department. Bill slid down while transferring from one chair to another. He couldn’t get up and I couldn’t do it.He is ok but I am losing paitence with the whole situation. I have not had any time to try my new trike.

Sorry to hear about this - have you thought about temporarily having Bill use a wheel chair or is that too drastic? What has he found out about the injuries to his knee and elbow?
Maureen, how is Dave’s dad doing in his new home?

He has a wheelchair although it is a tight squeeze. He is not walking around at all. It was getting from the bed to the toilet chair that he slid to the floor. He has two cracks in his elbow which should heal by just staying bound up. No break seen in the knee but it is so bruised that when he puts any weight on it he shrieks from the pain. Thank you Maureen for coming over today and walking the big dog.

oh for goodness sakes - what happened??
We celebrated Steve’s and Ella’s bdays with a brunch at our house today. (Saturday night Steve and I went to Granite City Brewery to observe his bday) This week Delaney and Ella have Vacation Bible School every morning at our church.
