Two Surprises

Bobby and Rachel surprised us by sitting with Elliott,me and our friends at the Indian’s library night. The Indians won in 12 Innings and there was a pleasant breeze in the heat! Tonight Rachel and Bobby are coming over for dinner and either want to make tacos for us or pick up Chinese. Bobby is leaving the end of the week so it will be nice to spend tonight with him. He won’t be back till Winter break. Matt is coming back from his weekend with Jen and her family in Atlanta. I can’t believe the Summer Reading Program will be over this Sat!! Our Manager is leaving at the end of this month and Melissa is our new Manager. We have had Sharon and Melissa for two weeks.

Happy to hear you had some fun with the boys etc!  Hope you like your new manager CarolFay.

I am heading to the airport soon to pick Steve up, returning from his trip to see his aunts and cousin in Albuquerque.  On Monday night I went down to the Murat to hear Bon Iver in concert - last minute decision, urged on by Matthew who introduced me to that group - I was in the very first row!  I loved it, even though I knew I stuck out like a sore thumb.  I didn’t even mind the part where this guy near me said “Your his mother aren’t you?!”  haha!

Should also add that I will be thinking about you this weekend Maureen, and praying that all will go well at your dad’s memorial service.  I hope you all get a chance to sit around and reminisce with much fondness about your dad and mom and your growing up years.  Take care!

Maureen, I will also be thinking about you and your family this weekend and I too pray the Memorial Service goes well.

Thank you for your thoughts.  Today’s reflection from St. Monica was about Mary and Martha -Martha needing to take time to reflect… applies to me this weekend.  I had just emailed my sister and said that I hope that I can play the role of “mourner” at the service rather than worrying about poking my brother when he needs to get up to do a reading, the nieces when they need to bring up the gifts etc.

Think of us Sunday… I just signed us up for a 50 mile Sweet Corn ride!  Several of the family will be doing it.  50 is out of my league right now but I feel that I need to do to “exorcise” my emotions!

You’ll get through it all, Maureen—the service and the ride—with our prayers at your back.

Maureen having your talents for organization, attention to detail and management are usually a blessing but it is good that you recognize that there are times when it is heaalthy to be introspective. Our thoughts are with you in your grief journey.

On a lighter note: at Goodwill today I was approached by someone who was trying on a dress that was way too tight. The sleeve of the jacket was digging into the biceps so snugly that circulation seemed to be stopping and they couldn’t get it off. I was asked to help and pull at the sleeve. It was such a challenge that I wondered how it had fit on in the first place. As we were working at it this person said: “it can be a challenge to find a dress to fit well when you wear drag and have muscles.” Yeah it was a guy!
