Thanksgiving Reports

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Dave, Rachel and I ran the Drumstick Run in BroadRipple Thursday morning before we drove to Chicago. It was a 4 1/2 mile run - my time is improving. I did it in just under 46 minutes - beat Rachel.

We arrived in Chicago shortly before dinner. Friday we were up at 6:30, worked out at the fitness center my brother belongs to before Rachel, Dave and I headed by train downtown. Rachel met Jamie Glenn there - a friend from HS who is now living there. Dave and I just walked around Michigan Ave. and State Street. We did see the windows at Macy’s also - Mary Poppins theme. Got back to my brothers in the evening and came home Saturday morning.

Everyone was there at various times except one of my brothers from CA.

See you Thursday if CC is still on.

Sue: Charlie has melanoma. The Drs. are just guessing that the cells may have been dormant in his body since the surgery he had on his face as a child. He went to the Dr. because of back pain. After doing an MRI and seeing the tumor they did a CAT scan and saw more spots in other places (liver etc). The back surgery was to alleviate the pain and fuse vertebrae together (or something along those lines). He was to start chemo and radiation after Thanksgiving. It sounds as if it will be a challenge beating this.

a surprise

After our Thanksgiving Buffet, Bobby went with me to see Stanger Than Fiction
I enjoyed it more than Bobby but he said it was OK. The first 40 minutes drove him nuts. More about the movie on Thursday. THe big surprise was Friday. I had plans to go with my friend, Kitzi, to see Casino Royale and go to the Athens restaurant. Both Matt and Elliott were working sports events. Bobby said he would go with me to the movie but he wanted to see Dejavu and go to a Mexican restaurant ( he never had Greek food). I told him we would change the movie but not the restaurant. The three of us really enjoyed the time travel Thriller and Bobby loves Greek food. Today I had 18 patrons make a snowman with cottonballs. My first craft was a success! Mow I have to work on my toddler and head start story times for December.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Today is my Mom’s 75th Birthday is today. My sister and I are taking her to Dancing with the Stars, January 18th, here, at Conceco. She loves that show! For Thanksgiving we are going, at non, to Old Country Buffet, in Carmel, with my in-laws!! I am off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I work Saturday and am doing a family craft with anyone who comes to Pike and wants to make a sowman out of Cotton Balls.

Wedding

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

The four of us went to a wedding in Streamwood Illinois. It was my cousn Linda’s Step-son, Jeremiah. He married a Catholic girl, Kathy. There was a Priest and a Rabbi conducting the service. We enjoyed how they combined both religions in the service. It was longer than a traditional Jewish wedding but not as long as a Catholic wedding. Carol you can post my name on the site for this Thursday. I still have to call Barb and Raquel.

Thursday I willl go the the “how to make it through the holidays” hospice group and then be at cc. Bill and I have no Thanksgiving plans. Kara will be in St. Louis.

troubles

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Irritation: our computer crashed. Bill bought a new one. some of the old stuff could be downloaded from the hard drive and other stuff is for now irretrievable. Of course we weren’t backed up on lots of things.

Grief redux: my good friend Kay is in the hospital critical care. It appears she is having liver failure. she had chemo for a flareup of stage three breast cancer. ( it was in her bones from the first discovery: She was way behind on annual mammograms.) . A week ago she was going to work and doing ok. when I visited Sunday at the hospital she was not lucid and couldn’t figure out how to move in bed. Not sure she will pull through and I am seriously into denial. This may be my first contemporary to pass. We started with childbirth and now we are doing death watches. Stay healthy friends.

Saw Carol with Donna at the whirlpool. I am getting back in the water exercise grove. tonight I took water Pilates. It was ok.

I am not staying up to watch election returns.
