Spring Break

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

We got out early today after working at school yesterday from 7:00 to 7:00. By 1:00 I was sound asleep. We ate at Bravo’s last night. I had balsamic chicken. Yummy. The rosemary bread with herbed olive oil was great. I plan to spend most of this week in the yard and just generally picking up around the house. Maybe I will get a project done too. See you Next Thursday at my house. Kate how is the tax buisness coming?

Home

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

There’s no place like it! Traveling is wonderful and so is the comfort of home, especially when spring has arrived right on time. Got your phone message Maureen, and I will be over to get ferns one of these days this week. Is it ok if I come when you are at school?

Leaving Paradise

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

We have had our last beach and swim afternoon, our last sunset dinner at The Chart House and now it is time to pack and get ready to leave on Saturday at 6:30 pm (12:30 am Indy) for our flight home. A stop in Houston to change planes Sunday morning and then to Indy around noon. I am totally flip-flopped on nights and days with the 6 hour difference. But it will be good to get back to the routine of home life. We have been treated royally, so it won’t be easy!

Susan if you want to host the next CC on April 5, that is fine. Otherwise I think it would be my turn.

CarolFay, no one showed up over here for CC on Thursday, so I guess it was just one of those small turnouts at your place!

Thanks for the Card

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Carol, Thank you soo much for the post card! The only ladie I shared your vacation post card with was Maureen!!! I only knew you and Barb couldn’t come. Maybe the other three are on their way to have CC with you. LOL. MAureen and I had a nice visit. Sometimes it’s nice just to have two. Tonight I am debating about going to a movie by myself. I don’t do it oftem. Elliott works and I am working seven days in a row so I can use a relaxing get away movie. I want to see the last Mimzy. Tomorrow night I am going with Kitzi, after work, to see the boy’s HS basketball finals. NC plays my Dad’s HS for the 4 A championship. I had a nice day off, yesterday. I held a three week old baby, Christina, for two hours. The mother of the baby in the next bed said Christina has been fussing and basically alone for two days. She calmed down and slept on and of in my arms. I love it!! I also got over to the JCC and walked in the pool with Donna. I got to AAA and ordered a trip tix for ST. Louis. Hi to all of you. Have a good weekend. Carol will have to tell us who is next. I will be in St. louis if it’s two weeks.

North Shore

Monday, March 19th, 2007

This morning we are driving up through the middle of the island, passing the pineapple fields and across the mountains and coffee farms to the North Shore. It is then that you get the first glimpse of the Pacific on that side of the island. Spectacular!

We usually stop at the little town of Haliewa, the sort of gateway to surf-dom I guess! It is home to Matsumoto’s Grocery, the original Hawaiian shave-ice can still be had there. Then it is a beautiful drive along the Banzai Pipeline - Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach etc. and our favorite one - Ehukai Beach. That is where we park, then walk down the wide beach in the deep sand to watch the gigantic surf and the ladies and gentlemen surfers.

Then we continue on around the east side of the island and eventually back to Hononulu. All for now, gotta go!

Pearl Harbor

Friday, March 16th, 2007

This morning we are going out to Pearl Harbor, for the 10th or 11th time anyway and it is always so meaningful. The sun is beautiful over the water and the surfers are out trying to catch a wave. All for now.

Sorrento’s

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

In hopes of seeing a repeat of Tuesday’s unreal sunset, we ate dinner last evening at Sorrento’s across the street from our condo. It sits “in the round” on the top floor (35th) of the Ilikai Hotel. Last year when we ate dinner there we chose the Diamond Head view, and this year we tried the sunset side. While the sunset was lovely, it was not the spectacle of the previous evening. It didn’t matter one bit though, as the dinner was delicious and we had beautiful full view of the Pacific while we chatted and enjoyed one another’s company. To get to the restaurant you use an outside glass elevator - fun!

Earlier yesterday we went to the Waikiki Aquarium which has fish and coral found only in the South Pacific among it’s exhibits. It isn’t a large aquarium, but all the tanks are perfectly maintained and interestingly arranged. In all the years we have been coming over here, it is one place we had never visited. It is located right on Waikiki Beach not too far from Diamond Head.

It is 2 pm back home, and 8 am here so our day is just beginning! Hope all is well with CC ladies!

Aloha

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

Same temperature here this morning as in Indy!! 75 degrees that is quite nice for all of us! Main difference I suppose is that I am looking out at the Pacific Ocean, drinking Kona coffee and listening to Hawaiian radio and music.

Had a nice trip over, Continental beats our usual Northwest flights in comfort, food service (none on NWA!) and flight attendents.

Yes, that was a good chocolate dessert Maureen! It is breakfast time here, a papaya awaits!

sinfully rich

thanks for the awesome chocolate treat. It certainly was rich tasting

news update

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Maureen just called and she is having CC tomorrow. I will still have it on the 22nd. She said Kate is coming so I might try to stop by. Kate, I hope you have the wedding pictures. I am not contageous, I just have a bad sinus headache and clogged ears. I’m just not up to having CC. I am off tomorrow so I will rest up and Dr. myself.

I don’t feel well

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

I took off of work today so I am changing CC unless someone else wants to have it tomorrow. I can’t have it until Thursday, March 22nd. Next week is bad for me. I work Tuesday and Thursday night and Wednesday I might go to the Pacer game to see Elliott. Matt is comingf home, from Florida, and has a two hour delay. He is working a butler basketball game so he probably will be home tonight. He still hasn’t slept at the condo. I did buy him sheets and a comforter for a queen size bed, last week. I work this Saturday, but first I have a Bib training class , at LSC, to help me with reference materials and web sites. Sue, when I feel better I will call you about the lady bug. Maureen, thanks for offering but right now I don’t need a rabbit. I need a lady bug , for March and Community helpers puppets, for April. I enjoy using puppets.

Wedding

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

I’m back and very busy with taxes, but it was definitely worth it. Had a lovely time with the bride before the wedding–we hit it off really well. The wedding was perfectly suited to them. David said he wouldn’t have changed a thing. I’ll try to come Thursday with pictures and more details, but don’t count on me. The balloon ride was good, too. Mom was thrilled. I’m taking her to the airport today to go east for another 80th birthday bash and my neice’s engagement party–wedding in 2008 since they couldn’t get the place they wanted until then! She’s registered at Williams Sonoma, Fortunoffs, and Bloomingdales.

Next Thursday is fine.

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Ladies,
I am off next Thursday so I can have CC. Otherwise I work 1-9 on the 15th and I’m off again on Thursday the 22nd. Carol, I know you said you will be gone. Is the 22nd better? Sue do you happen to have a Lady bug puppet or a Plant puppett? I need them for my Head Start story time March 20th. I used an owl puppet for Feb. and the children really liked Pike the Owl. I didn’t know if anyone else has puppets or you have an idea where to buy cheap puppets. We have animal puppets and a spider but no lady bug. MAtt still isn’t done moving to the Condo. We did meet Jenna and I really liked her. She Dog sits, as a second job, for friends and family. She works for a PR firm. The office is in the building on top of St. Elmo.

How was the wedding?

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

You must be back by now Kathy!
