After four days off I’ve worked two days. Tonight Elliott and I are going to an Indian’s game with Neal and Dora. Tomorrow I go to Munster, for Josh’s birthday party and staying through the fourth. Monday I am babysitting Josh, during the day, and then we are going to the taste of Chicago at night. Have a great Fourth!

Atlanta

We had a fantastic time down south! The weather was quite pleasant, being hot but not very humid. It is such a beautiful area - Georgia pines, southern magnolias and other trees in blossom in huge abundance. We re-visited Stone Mountain, and took in Six Flags and the Georgia Aquarium. That is a sight to see - the main aquarium is so big that it’s impossible to describe except to say that it has 4 whale sharks swimming around along with dozens of other huge fish and they each have all the room they need plus more! Delaney is such a good traveler. She is back home now, resting up for our next jaunt up to Minnesota this Friday till Sunday. We are visiting Steve’s folks. Ella will get her turn next month!

Save Me!

So… after Sue commented about mixing paint I paniced and bought a second gallon to mix with the first in case 1 wasn’t enough. Now I have almost 3/4 gallon left. So… I stripped the wallpaper in the bathroom which took a whole day and I’m putting primer on it today etc…and will use the left over paint to paint it. I also will end up using the leftover ceiling paint in the bathroom and probably have enough to do the hall. Will it stop there??? Did I have any other plans for this summer???

June 28

Now I remember what’s happening on June 28. The Kurt Vonnegut lecture at Clowes Hall that was sold out is being aired on Channel 20 at 8 pm. Mr. Vonnegut had died before the lecture, but his speech was already written, so his son delivered it–with his own comments.

Vote Now or ….

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

… forever hold your peace! I have painted a sample on my living room walls. I really would appreciate feedback before I proceed. So if anyone is available Sunday evening after 7:30 or almost anytime on Monday call me.

And of course seeing the potential on the walls means …. we may not wait for Ginger to die before we go ahead and pull up the carpeting and put wood floors down

Gardening Blog

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

I don’t know if any of you like to read blogs, but in looking online for an answer to a flower question I happened upon a lovely gardening blog. It just so happens that it is written by a lady in Indianapolis. Every day she writes about some feature in one of her gardens and includes great photos and commentary. I have been reading it for a couple of weeks and thoroughly enjoy it. Take a look and see what you think, you can add it to your Favorites and click in every day to see the latest. I am sold!

Take time out for a toast

Today is the 88th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. It seems impossible that before that date, we did not have the right to vote!

Let’s raise a glass to our sisters who fought so hard for this to happen!

Waiting for the Rain….

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

… but in the meantime on Saturday we went on an orgainized bike ride in Brownsburg that was a fundraiser for the building of the B&O trail. When we registered it said 45 miles. At the start of the ride they announced it was 47. Turns out it was 49.6 which was about 20 miles longer than what Dave and I were ready for! At one time in my life I would have ridden around the parking lot till I got to 50 but I’m so proud that I didn’t feel I needed to. Instead while Dave put the bikes on the rack I went for a massage. I’ve always wanted to do that after a mini so Saturday I said if not now then when. It felt soooo good that I told Dave to get one also.

Saturday night we went to the last POPS concert of the season — VEGAS. They had gambling tables set up so afterwards I “lost” $1,000 playing BlackJack.

And as I am typing this… the rain has arrived.

Rejected, Rejected

Friday, June 1st, 2007

Lost out on the car. It feels good to be able to walk away from it.

My Dad called saying he will be working everyday and we’ll need to reschedule a visit. I had mentioned Father’s Day. He said … shouldn’t Dave be with his Dad? I told him about the delicious salmon with champagne sauce and saute spinach he would miss. He mentioned that the lift broke on his car for his wheelchair and he’ll need to get it fixed or he’ll need to figure out a way to get to work. I said it was a sign from God that he shouldn’t go to work and that I should come. He laughed and said … nice try.

So …maybe I’ll ride my bike or walk over to Sue’s house for a garden tour and then go to Carol H’s house for a tour on Monday. Just don’t tell me you won’t be home!!!!(how many times can I be rejected?)
