Mike is leaving Nora, August 19th. He got a job as a PSA (like me) at the Irvington Branch. He is thrilled. Maureen, I think you will miss him most. They are losing Ann ( the librarian who used to be married to Mr. Schwab, the NC german Teacher). She is going to Central. I can’t believe the summer reading program will be over at 5:00 today. We will still have prizes for two weeks. I’ve enjoyed doing the ordering of prizes and submitting the inventory, every Monday. More news to follow ( about Pike) but it’s not offical yet. Elliott and I saw Hairspray, last night. He enjoyed it and I loved it? I enjoyed the music and Travolta was a really funny and good as the mother!

Sorry I missed CC
Saturday, July 21st, 2007I talked to Barb, earlier, on Thursday, and wanted to go after work. When I got her message about it being at the Cheesecake Factory I felt it wasn’t worth going all the way over there after I got off at 9:00. I would have got there after 9:30 and thats late, especially when I would want to stay a while and it would take 20 minutes to get home when I left. Have any of you ever gone to the RCA Tennis Tournament? I’m going ,with Barb, Monday evening. I have never been there. I’m working today since I took off two days, during the week, to be with my parents. We really enjoyed eating at Pucks and walking around the Art Museum, inside and outside!! My Dad went with Elliott to the baseball game and I went with my Mom to see the movie ” Evening” at the Landmark. It was very good! I hope to see “Hairspray” and “Harry Potter.”
Blue-ummmm-berries
Friday, July 20th, 2007Kind Kate last night gave each of us a bag of fresh blueberries (from Michigan was it?) and I have treated myself to a serving this morning. They are Wonderful!! I am planning to use the rest sparingly and not share with anyone. So there.
Thanks again Kathy!
Yoohoo Susan
Thursday, July 19th, 2007You are being offered the chance to host CC once again before you go back to school - Thursday August 2. Barb, Maureen, Kate and I had a nice off-site CC evening at The Cheesecake Factory, compliments of Barb. We left it that unless we hear differently, it will be at your house next.
PS I will be in Minnesota, so won’t be able to make it on the 2nd.
SUSPENSE Is….
Monday, July 16th, 2007The suspense is killing me Kate. Where did you go for the weekend?
Saturday morning Dave and I were sitting in the gazebo eating, reading the paper and wondering why we wanted to spend a beautiful day driving to Chicago - but we did. We didn’t leave though till 11.
The visit with the family was ok … duty done till Thanksgiving. My sister in law, by her own admission is disorganized and there was so much food thrown out it made me sick. They also had a keg of beer that I’m sure the high schoolers there helped themselves to. One of my brothers was disappointed in me because I didn’t get into playing ping pong beer ( a beer drinking game of ping pong). Etc etc. We fixed breakfast for everyone Sunday morning and left around 11.
CarolFay’s Tea Group
Friday, July 13th, 2007This is from CarolFay to any interested CC ladies - let her know if you want to join the Tea Group!
The July tea is planned for 1200 on July 21st at Rick’s Cafe Boatyard at 4050 Dandy Trail on the westside off of 38th Street. I would suggest coming across on 38th or 56th street to Dandy Trail if you have problems getting on the interstate. Several people expressed that I have the tea at Rick’s again this year and I hated to pass up the opportunity to sit outside during the summer. Those of you who have attended the last two years thoroughly enjoyed the scenery on the deck to include boats and occasionally a good looking boater. Made for interesting conversation.
Their menu and maps can be found at: http://www.rickscafeboatyard.com/
Please RSVP not later then Thursday July 19
Crazy work week!
Friday, July 13th, 2007I was supposed to be off Thursday, to go to Riley to rock the Babies. There was a SRP program, that IRT put on for the children. There was no children’s librarian on the schedule for the Thursday night IRT program, at 7:00. I offered to change my schedule to help. I ended up working 6-9 yesterday and 1-6 today. I also work this Saturday and Sunday. That means I don’t have a day off, all week and next week I work Sunday and Monday. Then I’m off Tuesday and Wednesday, to spend with my parents, here in Indy. We have resevations to go to Pucks, on Wednesday, for lunch. Tonight, after work, Elliott, Kitzi and I are going to Pike Performing Arts to see Judy Garland the musical. Elliott actually wants to go!! I’m thrilled and surprised. Bobby has been visiting my parents and will go to Chicago, today and stay till Sunday. Tomorrow he is going to a Cub’s game with his old rommate, Kevin Anderson. Matt is going to my parents tomorrow and to a wedding reception, in Valpo, on Sunday. Never a dull moment! If the weather is decent, my parents want to go to Cooner Prairie while they are hear.
Friday
Friday, July 13th, 2007Hey! Have fun wherever you end up Kathy! My guess is that you are going down to West Baden Springs to the grand hotel there.
Sue - thanks for the final word on Avon Gardens. All in all then, I would still have to say it isn’t worth the drive/gas.
Maureen - I didn’t make it to Macy’s yesterday as I spent my allotted time at the Cabbage Rose/Country Friends 50% off closing sale. I may head over to Macy’s today after gardening.
I continue to enjoy reading May Dreams blog - I have kept track and it takes me between 45 seconds and a minute and a half to read it each day. The photos of her gardens are worth the daily look even if you don’t read the commentary!
Poetry Plus
Monday, July 9th, 2007This Tuesday night is Poetry Plus, and the program will be presented by Gloria and Annalea - the topic is “Planting a Fairy Garden”! If any of you ladies are interested, it starts at 7:30 pm in the church library at Pilgrim.
TAG
Monday, July 9th, 2007I left a message on Barb’s answering machine saying … tag, the next CC is at your house in 2 weeks which is July 21st. I told her to call if that date doesn’t work although I suppose I should call to be sure she received the message.
Kevin and Rachel both made it in for their cousin’s wedding - one of the many on 7-7-07. It was a nice service but the reception was lacking. Even the groom’s father said … don’t you think the dj is kind of wacky? We didn’t get to bed till 1 and of course were too tired to do anything the next day. Most interesting were Rachel’s comments - and I agreed with her. (scary) So maybe when her turn comes we may be on the same page!
How was CC Thursday?
Saturday, July 7th, 2007Sorry I didn’t make it. I left Munster Thursday morning and went right to work. When I got off, at 9:00 I was really tired.I’ve had two great weeks of vacation days and only working two days a week. It will be hard working a full week this coming week. I am still enjoying the job but still stressed, a little, until Summer reading is over and I’ve had a full six weeks of doing inventory, ordering, helping with the summer reading programs, movies, etc. Now being off two Mondays It will feel like starting over with the ordering and inventory since it’s only on Mondays and I haven’t done it for two weeks. The manager suggested that I join a commitee that will create a program to improve customer service and then we train our co-workers. I had a good 4th, being with my family. We went to two parades and I was the one running, to pick up the candy thrown, for Josh since he didn’t quite get the hang of it. I spent the evening with my parents. My mom and I went to visit her sister, who is 85 and Aunt Lillie’s Husband who is 87. They are both relatively well for their age. Today I was off and spent the day with Elliott. Tomorrow we are going to the Indian’s game to see baseball and Matt. I saw the new Die HArd movie with my Dad. We both liked the action but my Dad kept saying ” Carol this just isn’t very believable” and I kept saying ” Dad it is a movie and just entertainment”
