And I’m Back

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

All I can say … do not gain weight as you age and be sure to eat healthy, and exercise.

I can go into enough details to inspire you! Life will be so much easier on you and your children.
I never thought I would be getting my Dad dressed.

Polio and arthritis have made my Dad’s life challenging enough … It would have made my Dad’s life a lot easier if he was not lugging around 250 pounds of pure fat. We have hired a home health aide for 7 days a week, 2 hours a day until he is able to move to the assisted living section in about 8 weeks. My sister was meeting with them as I left for the airport so lets hope it works out!

And as is usual on my trips to Akron to help … I lost a few pounds. A few brownies at home will take care of that in a week!

CC tomorrow

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it to CC tomorrow. I’ll try but I will be late if I come. I can’t remember but has any of you heard or read the book 3 Cups of Tea? I have to read it for November book club.

And I’m Off

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

I rode my bike to carry water and bananas for Dave and Rachel as they ran 22 miles. I did a detour to the Farmers Market in Carmel and caught up with them (wasn’t hard to do). I like the Broad Ripple Market much better.

After the run it was showers and lunch and then I took them both to Foot Finesse. They both enjoyed the massage. Dave did say they really pressed hard on his back and it was uncomfortable at one point. Rachel said she was ticklish in between her toes. They both would recommend it though!

Dave and I are going to Capital Grille for dinner and then the POPS concert. I leave (hopefully) Sunday morning for Akron. I’ll be back (hopefully) on the 28th.

Hope everyone enjoys their week … and Kate that you enjoy your visit with the baby!

Shirt delivery

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Maureen, I brought the t-shirt over to Nora School, the sec’y says hello!

We lost power 4 different times yesterday, longest was for about 2 hours. It never fails to amaze how much of what we do depends on electricity. Today I have been checking online for a wind-up/solar powered radio - the thought of being out of touch is scary.

Hurricane and train tragedies

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

I have a cousin who lives in Dallas Texas and one in Blue Jay California. I emailed both cousins to see how close they lived to their tragedies. My cousin Myron, in Texas, said he lived about 300 miles from the Hurricane and cousin Sharon said she didn’t live near the two train wreck but it looked terrible. Myron said there was some wind and the temperature had dropped to 80 degrees. Do any of you know somebody who lives in Texas and was affected by Ike??

One more G’ma name

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Just got this one today, downtown at Carson Pirie Scott: Kay-Kay
I’m not sure of the spelling, but that’s what the little boy in the stroller was calling her, almost positive it was his g’ma, but I suppose it could have been an aunt or a nanny?!

Barb’s House??

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

I talked to BArb, Monday, and she wasn’t sure if she was having it at her house or not. Have any of you talked to her since Monday? I work until 9:00 ,tonight, so I can just swing by her house on the way home unless I’m really exhausted!! I just tired now. Iwent to Riley , this morning, for a TB test and I rocked one baby before I had lunch and ran to Glendale for a library budget meeting. When I got here, at 4:15, I had to finish adding up my time study minutes from yesterday and finish my incident report that I witnessed yesterday. I’ll tell you more about it in person. Hopefully I’ll see you tonight.

Lost and Found

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

The ulta sound tech also had a little trouble finding the ovary but when she did …. all is fine! I hate knowing that you always have to have these false alarms checked out or else I’d be tempted to let it go.

Our trip to see Kevin was great. All of our flights went smoothly. Kevin took us on an uphill hike, 8 miles round trip, one day. The next, we drove an hour along the Blue Ridge Parkway to a winery where we ate lunch and then went on a tour and wine tasting. Last of the big drinkers … Dave and I shared our 5 free wine tastings while Kevin paid to sample 10. Dave drove home. That would have been enough of a day for me but I think Kevin wanted to tire us out and be sure we had a good time so we went to a movie… Henry Poole Was Here and then to an Irish Pub for dinner.

Interesting Developement

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

All of you are usually up to date on the news so I’m sure you know about Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter being pregnant. We have a developement, here at Pike, because of that breaking news. Channel 13 is in our parking lot finding teens and their parents to interview about their opions on teen pregnancy. I’m not sure if or when it will be on TV but I plan to watch the news tonight. I keep saying my job is anything but boring!!!
