Big weekend!

Last night I went to NC to see and hear Nicholas Sparks. I sat in the second row from the front, behind Laura Bramble, and I really enjoyed him! Marilyn Collins went with me, even though she hasn’t read any of his books. She was a great sport and stood with me in line for an autograph. I had two books ( I was helping my friend Dora get a book signed for her son’s GF. Dora is out of town) that needed Nicholas Sparks’ signature and there was a sign one book per person. We left NC at 9:00. today I’m working. Tomorrow Elliott and I are going to check out the 5 year old Sheltie, Honey. Her foster parents live in Brownsburg. After, talking to Elise Honey sounds good and Bad. I will elaborate after We see her, tomorrow morning. I’m excited that I’ve connected, on Facebook, with several Munster High Alumni ( I think I mentioned that) and that the Munster High boy’s basketball team has made it to semi state. If they win today they would be coming to Conceco next Sat. Elliott works the finals and I usually try to go to the 4A game! Matt is traveling with the NCAA tournament. He went ti Pittsburgh, Thursday, and he will be going to Detroit.

    Busy as usual Carol Fay!

Dave and I just got back from the funeral for Rachel’s friend. I didn’t know the word sad could carry so much weight (speaking of the word program on NPR). You can imagine how well attended the funeral was with him being in the National Guard, 2 tours of Iraq, young and from a small town. The motorcycle veterans lined the sidewalk outside the church holding flags and led the motorcade to the cemetery. The closing song was one that we sang at Dave’s Mom funeral (and that I had told Dave months ago I would like at mine) … How Great Thou Art. I guess I’ll find a new one. The fired the guns graveside, played TAPS and sang Danny Boy (his name was Dan).

I actually didn’t say anything to Megan’s Mom - we just hugged and cried. She did say that Rachel has been a gift from God to Rachel and that she is such a good friend.

oops there goes another … McCoy. This one is an orange planter. Sue - only one thing that might interest you if I decide I don’t want it… I’ll bring it to the next CC

love orange…Carol Fay next year I will go with you to the Mc
Fadden lecture..Kara and I sorted for four hours today and I had sorted for five hours last night. Last night I had trouble getting to sleep and at 3:00a was prowling around looking for aspirin. I thought maybe I was having a heart attack. My shoulder was sore and the soreness went down my arm and across my back. Well today while we were sorting we figured out that I was achy from sitting and stretching. (Kara was complaining about a sore neck from hunching over.) Tomorrow I will have to spend the whole day trying to get school work done. I have about 15 conferences Tuesday and Wednesday. Then Thursday through Saturday I have my annual speech convention. John will be here the next day on Sunday.

One more day of parent confernces. Then I am free…sort of the number of sick days I have will equal the number of days left to school is out. I looked up McCoy on ebay and my take is some is nice and some I don’t care for. The going price seemed to be a lot at $10 and some a lot more.

Good job Sue - should we start a pool to see how many sick days you use between now and the end?

CarolFay - what is the news on the dog?

The latest find in the decluttering project - an Indian hatchet of some sort. It has a note on it that it was found on his fathers property in 1870 by him (Stephen Osborn) who is Wilma’s great grandfather. How many of the grandkids could have taken that to show and tell? I took all of Wilma’s clothes to Thrifty Threads. They said they take everything that Goodwill does - I thought they only wanted upper end clothes but they said they sell the rest by the pound and they end up in 3rd world countries. Now I am down to just moving things around so that all the music is in one place, the slides, etc. And then onto the garage and yard which will at least put me outdoors.

Bob’s minister e-mailed - Bob showed up at church Tues thinking it was Sunday and very embarrassed when he realized his mistake.

Yeah master of decluttering and organization. That tomahawk might be something to donate to a museum. Yet the kids could have been suspended for bringing a weapon to school.
Knowing what day it is is hard when you are retired. Poor guy.
