THE WEEKEND

It was great having several days in a row with such beautiful weather. Friday I spent the afternoon washing the gazebo. We invited the neighbor to join us in the gazebo for a late dinner (his wife is out of town with a new sick grandbaby) and had the first kahlua milkshake of the summer. As much as I wish it were sunny early in the morning it is nice to have it light late - which totally messes up our body clock when we eat dinner at 7:30.

Saturday was our first bike ride of the season - 10 miles. We also went to Habig’s and back again when Dave discovered a piece was missing to the new rain barrel we bought. We are trying to get it attached in time for the rain on Sunday!

I hope everyone made the most of their weekend and enjoyed the touch of spring sunshine.

A rain barrel sounds good. I didn’t see any at the flower show but did see a worm composter. We had a super time in Cincinatti with our friend. She entertained us with a visit by her darling granddaughter (10 months). Alana let me hold her occasionally and was so smily. I offered to swap Bill for Alana but not surprisingly was declined. Morita and I spent three hours walking to look at exhibits, sales booths and sampling goodies in the food tent. Such a great day to be outside that after resting for an hour we then went out to her yard and worked for a half hour. I will be home tommorrow aftyer my opthamologist visit. I will probably be dialated so will lay about until 2 or 3:00.

“lay about” sounds wonderful. Especially on a gray day like today. We went to Lowe’s and Rosie’s and Walmart, purchased tomato plants and marigolds, which will remain inside for another month. We sat in some patio chairs, but made no purchase. We’re trying to decide between a 4′ square table or a larger 6′ rectangular table. We don’t want to clutter up our patio immediately.

Any recommendations for a low hedge that’s partly shaded and doesn’t need much pruning?

Friday night I saw the Globetrotters. Sat. I went with the Tea Group to Petite Patachou at Clay Terrace. It was a beautiful Day so we went shopping, after lunch, and had a Gelato. Sat. night Elliott and I went to PPA to see Riders in the Sky. We enjoyed it. Sunday I worked so we spent the evening at home with Honey.

I have been wanting to get a rain barrel for several years now. Good idea.

Nice weekend ladies! We had the grounds crew here again Saturday and they were again a genuine help. Rewarded them with a trip to Justice where they each picked out a couple of items. Also took Delaney to Kohl’s for new Nikes - size 5 - as she is doing the Geist 5K on May 16.

At church on Sunday Matthew and Taylor played a piece on the marimba - a “preview” for their upcoming percussion performance at church this coming Sunday afternoon. Part of Pilgrim’s Fine Arts Series. All are welcome - 4 pm. In fact, my folks are driving down for this - they haven’t been here in over 4 years!!
