Percussion Concert

Maureen called me about rhubarb and I commented to her about Matthew and Taylor’s concert today as part of the Pilgrim Fine Arts Series. I had written about it as a comment to a post here on CC but she hadn’t seen it. So, for all to know, I am repeating it:
At church on Sunday Matthew and Taylor played a piece on the marimba - a “preview” for their upcoming percussion performance at church this coming Sunday afternoon. Part of Pilgrim’s Fine Arts Series. All are welcome - 4 pm. In fact, my folks are driving down for this - they haven’t been here in over 4 years!! (this was mentioned in the “GO!” section of the newspaper on Friday!)

It will last about an hour. My folks have been here since Wednesday and we have been enjoying every minute!

I hadn’t noticed the post and I just got in from the yard. I did some swapping with my friend Linda. Yesterday I went to her yard and came home with six things (one I already had) including a spirea from her grandmother’s yard. Today she came to my yard and took several things to plant in her yard. I am starting to think about expanding my yard to the back because I might be running out of room.

It is awesome how many musicians continue to enjoy the challenges of performing for so many years. I’m sure all went well. Some people take part in community bands and I’ve enjoyed the old time feeling of the Zionsville group. We used to attend occasionally when Dan played. I always think of the Newmans on Fourth of July every year.

I may have caught a little bit of the gardening bug from you-all. I planted some dead nettle and a dwarf alberta spruce. Bill and I put in 10 burning bushes next to the driveway where we had removed our hedge last year. I planted a eunonymus (sp?) and moved and divided some hostas. I moved some ruby red daylilies to a sunnier spot because they never bloom. We ran into a problem when Bill tried to plant some lilac bushes he had ordered–Roots from that huge tree we had removed. We are considering options, like renting a machine or just paying a landscaper to come and take care of it. Any ideas? or do you know how much it would cost? (How long does the gardening bug last?)

I believe in support the economy whenever we can … hire someone. Although we are going to spread our own mulch. As to how long it lasts … once it gets too hot.

If too hot just go out early in the morning (or go out and read a book)
